A brief description of the areas in which volunteer help is necessary is described below:
HEAD COACH
Coaches are crucial to the team. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Attend initial Coach’s meeting in July where Coach’s Manual is distributed. Coach’s manual contains Team Roster, Barrens Rules and Regulations, and other necessary information.
- Two practices, at beginning of season, per week not to exceed 1 ½ hours each.
- Approximately eight games all held on Sundays after 1 PM except for Opening day that is held the Saturday after Labor Day weekend.
- Pickup, maintain and return equipment (balls, cones, pennies, first aid kit) for season’s use.
- Notify team players of team assignment by phone or e-mail.
- Teach players the fundamentals of the game of soccer.
- Notify team players of any canceled practices or games.
- Prepare tentative game lineup prior to game day to allow equal playing time among all players.
ASSISTANT COACH
- Assist Head Coach with the team’s coaching needs.
BOARD MEMBER
- Board members consist of: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Games Commissioner, Delta Coordinator, Fawn Grove Coordinator, Stewartstown Coordinator, Referee Coordinator, Website Coordinator, At-Large Members
General election is held in November of each year. The Area Coordinators are elected by vote. Vacant positions can be filled at any time during the year. Please see any Board Member regarding the above positions for further details.
TEAM PARENT
The Head Coach may assign a Team Parent to each team. The Team Parent is to assist the Coaches with Parent coordination of any non-coaching functions. A team parent may coordinate activities (should be delegated by the Head Coach) as listed below:
- Plan schedule for parents to bring fruit or other healthy snack to each game for mid-game break.
- Pick-up miscellaneous items such as uniforms, picture information, soccer booklets, etc.
- Administer first aid and maintain kit in satisfactory condition
FIELD SET-UP
In early August, the goals must be set up, nets put on goals, fields measured and lined.
FLAGS
Flags must be set up in AM before all games begin and taken down at the end of the day after the last game is finished.
FIELD LINING
Line fields with paint machines that are operated by walking behind machine and squeezing a handle that sprays paint onto the lines that are already set up on each field. One volunteer for each weekend for approximately 1.5 hours.
FIELD DISMANTLING
Typically the last Sunday of the season, after the games are done, but can be the second or third Saturday in November. Goals must be dismantled, nets folded and stored at appropriate storage facility.
EQUIPMENT
Assist in distributing, maintaining and collection of coach’s equipment such as balls, cones, goalie shirts and gloves, ball bags and filling first aid kits.
